Interior Renovations

Since the 1940's this solid brick building had been a two-flat but the current owner's wanted to convert it back to a single family residence without expanding the building envelope. An original pair of stained glass pocket doors was salvaged from the basement, restored by the Botti Studio and served as the inspiration for a Craftsman style rehab. Most of the interior was gutted & reconfigured. In the process a new Entry Foyer, Oak staircase, Kitchen, Family Room, Mud Room, three Bathrooms, Library and four Bedrooms where created while the original Living Room & Dining Room were restored and preserved resulting in the best worlds: Old and New in one composition.

Originally built in 1885, this superb limestone historic home survived with much of its fine mahogany woodwork intact. The Kitchen, however, was poorly renovated in the 1970's. So, the current owners wished to renovate the Kitchen in a manner consistent with the authentic detailing in the rest of the house. Working inside the existing exterior walls, we also combined a series small rooms to create a Family Room off the new Kitchen, added a new rear staircase, a Master Suite & Master Bath, a Children's Hall Bath, a 2nd floor Laundry and a Third Floor Guest Suite with exterior terrace; all respectful of the original Victorian character.
